Cyclist seriously injured during hit and run collision with car on Kilham Road, Driffield - police investigation launched.

A pedal cyclist suffered multiple injuries following a collision with a vehicle on Kilham Road, Driffield.

The incident happened at approximately 9.50am on Saturday 21 March outside Yorkworld Pigpro on the road between the B1249 and Kilham.

The 51-year-old Driffield man on the cycle was found lying on the road by a passing motorist after the car which collided with the bicycle is thought to have driven away from the scene without leaving any details.

The car involved is believed to be dark in colour however there is no further description.

The cyclist was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary by air ambulance where he remains in a critical condition with head injuries and a number of fractures to the upper body.

The road was closed until shortly after 1pm on Saturday to allow the scene to be properly examined.
