BURGLARS made off with a gold coloured ruby and diamond ring and a case of Carling lager from a house in Lansdowne Road, Bridlington.

They got in through an unlocked back door while the occupants were still in the house and made off with their haul between 8.30pm and 9pm last Tuesday.

Police investigating the burglary want anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the street around this time or know where the stolen property is now to contact them on 0845 6060222 quoting log number 695 of February 1.

They have also issued a warning for people to keep their homes secure and reduce the opportunity for thieves. Wherever possible doors and windows should be locked in unoccupied rooms even when the owner is in another part of the house.

They also advise people not to leave high value items on display and to consider property marking high value items using Smartwater or UV pens.

People can also register property at www.immobilise.com which is a free on-line property register used by police forces nationwide to reunite stolen goods to their owners. All you have to do is register on-line and then upload properties/electrical items serial numbers.
