Bridlington police appeal after Esplanade assault

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an alleged assault on Esplanade, Bridlington at around 3am on Sunday, August 14.

A 31-year-old woman was sat on a bench talking to a friend when a woman approached her and asked for a cigarette, which the victim refused and the woman left.

The woman then returned and again asked for a cigarette, but when the victim refused the woman allegedly grabbed her around the neck and pulled at her hair.

As a result of the incident, the 31-year-old suffered scratches to her neck, pain to her scalp and grazes to her elbow. She attended the Minor Injuries Unit at Bridlington Hospital for treatment.

An 18-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating, and was released on police bail pending further enquiries.
