BREAKING NEWS: Mayor’s civic chains stolen

BRIDLINGTON’S civic chains, valued at £15,000, have been stolen from the home of the town mayor Michael Charlesworth who is currently in hospital after suffering a stroke.

A safe containing the chains, a wedding ring and engagement ring belonging to Coun Charlesworth’s late wife, and a Salvation Army charity box were stolen when his home was burgled between 11am on Friday October 19 and 4.30pm on Sunday October 21.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Detectives investigating the burglary would like to quickly identify the whereabouts of these unique, precious and sentimental items.”

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the stolen property or may be able to provide detectives with any information has been asked to call Humberside Police on 101, quoting crime reference number 1937270 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
