THE former clerk to Bridlington Town Council has left the job.

Christopher Smith, Town Clerk since the council was established in 2000, is no longer an employee after a long period of illness lasting around three years.

Mr Smith, was last officially at work in November 2008.

He ceased to be employed by the council last month.

A statement released this week by the town council said: “Bridlington Town Council can confirm that Mr Christopher Smith’s employment with the council has been terminated by mutual agreement.

“The terms of that agreement are covered by a Compromise Agreement, the content of which is confidential. Bridlington Town Council is now looking to the future and it will shortly be making an announcement about its staffing structure.”

Paula King will continue in her role as interim town clerk, as will Victoria Exon, acting responsible financial officer.

However, it is understood an announcement about staff changes was due to be made at last night’s full Town Council meeting.
