Chance to land a really wild job

THE RSPB is running a scheme to provide the experience needed for a career in nature conservation.

They are looking for people who have a passion for wildlife and are able to dedicate a year to volunteering on their Northern England nature reserves.

This residential internship scheme will provide relevant training, networking opportunities, on the job mentoring and support as well as the wonderful experience of living and working with fantastic people on a fabulous nature reserve.

There are two different types of opportunities, both providing free accommodation.

The warden internship aims to provide the practical skills of being a warden by learning to survey wildlife and get stuck in with a variety of habitat management work.

The visitor and publicity officer internship is just as exciting by getting experience in welcoming visitors, helping with guided walks, running events and working with local communities and the media to inspire people about how amazing nature is.

Nine internship opportunities are available and start in April. The nature reserves involved are Leighton Moss in Lancashire, Coombes Valley in Staffordshire as well as Fairburn Ings, Blacktoft Sands and Old Moor in Yorkshire.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday February 16. For an information pack contact Alison Cook on 01484 868405 or email alison.cook@rspb.org.uk
