TWO elderly motorists needed hospital treatment after a three-car pile up on Bempton Lane.
The road was closed off for almost two hours at the junction with Thoresby Avenue while police, paramedics and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance attended the scene at around 11.30am on Saturday.
Of the three cars involved in the crash, a grey Kia Ceed a silver Vauxhall Vectra and a red Vauxhall Corsa, only the drivers of the Kia and Corsa were taken to Scarborough Hospital by ambulance.
Both the Kia driver, a man believed to be in his eighties, and the woman driver of the Corsa, believed to be in her seventies, sustained only minor injuries and were later discharged from hospital.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance, which was flying over Bridlington at the time, landed close to the scene but was not required.
Bempton Lane was reopened at 1.55pm.
