IT IS business as usual at a Bridlington paint and materials supply company following a take over by industry giants Crown Paints.

The acquisition of independent retailers, Newland Paint Supplies, which has four other branches in Yorkshire, is expected to boost the Crown Paints Group’s turnover by more than £1m.

The two full-time staff at the store in Bessingby Industrial Estate will retain their jobs and the company will continue to trade under the Newland name.

It opened in Bridlington at the end of Prospect Arcade, off Palace Avenue, in 1995 and moved to its present site in July 2007. It will continue to supply paints and decorative materials to trade and retail customers.

Chief executive of Crown Paints, Brian Davidson, said: “The acquisition of Newland Paint Supplies fits with our growth strategy and will add significantly to our top line while bringing into the Crown Decorating Centre network five new stores and a number of highly experienced staff.”
