A new website providing a detailed insight into the workings of Bridlington’s harbour has been launched by the Harbour Commissioners.
The site, www.bridlingtonharbour.com offers the viewer much more online information than was previously available, ranging from a potted history on the Commissioners and the names of the current Board members, forthcoming events, commercial rates for harbour users and tide times.
Margaret Hyland, chief executive of the Harbour Commissioners, said: “The website exists to provide our regular harbour users with essential information on rates and tides but we also hope it will be of interest to local residents, local businesses and holidaymakers, in fact everyone who works here, lives here or visits here.
“The development of this new and much more extensive website is down to the vision of our chairman, George Traves, who has been keen to show the wider community how important the harbour activities are to the town. George has been in regular contact with the web developer to make sure we delivered a first class presentation.
“Our own administrative and communications team will manage the content of the site but we will encourage people to offer ‘outside’ contributions. Currently, there are around 100 businesses operating in or around the harbour, providing employment for 400 people, and the more people who take an interest in the harbour’s activities and its people, the happier everyone will be.
The website has been developed by The PR Company, of Hessle, along with their web associates Weborchard, of Woodmansey, near Beverley.
A new feature on the site is a gallery section containing photographs shot by local photographer Andrew Barrett.
