Heidi realises her ski chalet dream
Bridlington woman Heidi Baxter has opened a ski business in France
A LOCAL woman has realised a dream eight years in the making and set up her own ski chalet company in the French Alps.
Heidi Baxter now lives in Leeds, but the Bridlington girl first fell in love with the snow at only 13 years old while living in the town - and after working as a travel rep in Morzine in France, she has opened her own company there.
Heidi, 34, said: “While I’m a little nervous about setting up a business in the current climate, I am incredibly excited to be getting the chance to go after my dream.
“When I first hit the slopes on a school ski trip I fell in love with the mountains, so when I then had the chance to work in Morzine’s Porte Du Solei ski region and ski the 650km of piste, I fell for the amazing lifestyle.”
Heidi went to what was then Moorfield School, and then Bridlington School and most of her family still live in the old town area of Bridlington, where she grew up, and still often visits.
She said: “My inspiration has always been my mum - also a Bridlington girl - who always told me go out and grab life with both hands, to be independent and never give up on what you really want.
“My business will welcome a host of ski clients and offer great French hospitality.”
The ski season started for Morzine on December 11, and lasts through to the end of April, as well as becoming a popular summer location for mountain bikers.
