A HAT company from Bridlington will have more than just a bet on at Royal Ascot - they will also have some of their very own hats on display.

Local milliners What A Hat, from Carnaby, have been commissioned by the Stobart Group to design a Stobart inspired couture hat for Ladies Day at Royal Ascot this year.

“This is the first time we’ve had a couture client of this nature,” admitted What A Hat owner Sharon Watts.

“We’re very pleased that we were selected by the Stobart Group to design a showpiece for Ascot. We have been working at a high pace this year with demand for the Royal Wedding sparking off what is proving to be a bumper season in the world of millinery.

The Stobart hat will be worn at Royal Ascot by William Stobart’s girlfriend, Clare Burrell

The design took nearly three days to make and is decorated with 32 handmade red and gold silk roses, which form a letter ‘S’.

There are also 45 handmade green silk leaves, set on a large freeform green sinamay base.

‘Stobart’ has been embroidered across the rear section of the hat, along with the distinctive chevrons from the Stobart logo.
