Buses are being temporarily diverted away from Bridge Street, in Bridlington this morning (Thursday April 18) to allow engineers to carry out essential resurfacing works.
Engineering works have been carried out on South Cliff Road this week as far as the junction with Bridge Street, but the weight of passing buses has caused problems for engineers trying to lay down wearing course.
So the Council has asked bus operator East Yorkshire Motor Services if their vehicles would avoid Bridge Street between 10am and noon today to enable the works to go ahead.
A spokesperson for East Riding of Yorkshire Council said the works have been progressing as planned and buses should be able to use the route again by lunchtime.
The road is open to other traffic, although drivers are reminded that there may be slight delays due to a ‘stop and go’ system in place while the works are carried out.
