DEDICATED staff at a Bridlington supermarket have held a charity ball which has helped raise thousands of pounds to help battle cancer.
Staff at Bridlington’s Tesco store joined workers from other branches around the area for a ball at Bridlington Spa this weekend, to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
The ball itself has raised around £1,500 – alongside more than £5,000 already raised by Bridlington staff towards their £10,800 fundraising target.
The money raised from the ball will be split between all the participating stores – Bridlington, Scarborough, Filey, Driffield, Beverley, Market Weighton and Hornsea – to help each reach their own fundraising targets.
Trina Ellis, service manager at Bridlington’s Tesco said: “We would like to say a big thank you to all of those who came along, those who donated prizes for our silent auction, and the team at the Spa.
“We had a wonderful evening with entertainment from a new local band Breaking News, and Stacey Hunt, who works at our Filey store.
“Everyone has worked really hard to raise the money. We are now half way through our Tesco fundraising year and after the ball the Bridlington store is already well on course to reach its target.”
The store has been fundraising all year, with a number of events swelling the coffers including sponsored cycle sessions, charity evenings at the Greyhound pub on Promenade and a charity book stall held in store.
