Thousands of pupils in Bridlington will be affected by a regional teachers’ strike on Tuesday.
Members of the UK’s two largest teaching unions, the NUT and NASUWT, will strike on Tuesday 1 October in a dispute with the Government over pay, pensions and working conditions.
The strike has resulted in several Bridlington schools announcing closures, including: Bay Primary, Quay Primary, Burlington Juniors, Our Lady and Saint Peter R.C. Primary School and Martongate Primary School.
Bridlington School will open for Year 11, 12 and 13 for independent study, and Headlands will also be partially shut to students, with the school only open to the sixth form. Hilderthorpe Junior School will be shut for students in classes 9, 10 and 12.
However New Pasture Lane and Bridlington Nursery will open, with Burlington Infants School as yet undecided over its closure.
