GLAMOROUS fund-raisers will take to Bridlington’s seafront to walk a mile in aid of a cancer support charity – in high heels.

Julie Dyl, owner of Rags Restaurant and Hotel on the South Pier, is organising the High Heel Mile, which will start from the boating lake near Bridlington Spa, on Sunday, September 9, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Over 40 men and women have entered so far, and are planning their flamboyant fancy dress for the walk along Promenade, expected to take around two hours.

Mrs Dyl, of Belvedere Road, said: “I think it is just going to be fun really, raising lots of money for a good cause and having fun on the day.

“My husband was the first to sign up, he’s going to wear a pink and blue pastel striped pair, and has been practicing walking up and down the garden when there aren’t many people around.”

She said there would be a light-hearted prize giving ceremony and
barbeque held after the walk, at 5pm at Rags, for which non-participants can buy tickets for £5 from Rags.

Julie is asking for any large sized heels to be donated to the High Heel Mile, and participants can still register to walk by calling Rags Hotel on 400355 or Julie on 07793 582684 and paying a £5 donation.
