RETIRED greyhounds are to benefit from new toys and treats thanks to the efforts of two schoolgirls.

Pictured are Emma Brockbank and Chloe Stuart who have spent the past six weeks working with Lynette Phillips of The Bridlington and District Retired Greyhound Trust as part of the Humberside Police Lifestyle Challenge.

The girls, who are known as the Star Schoolgirlz, told the Free Press that they have found the experience very interesting and they have learnt a lot.

At their last fund-raising event, a cake sale, they sold out of cakes within two hours.

The Star Schoolgirlz have so far raised a total of £80 and plan to use the money to buy toys and treats for the kennelled dogs at Brough.
