FIREFIGHTERS have been busy tackling two fires in fields in the Bridlington area in recent days.

Pictured are firefighters tackling a blaze which spread through 200 square metres of stubble in a field near Burstall Hill.

One fire engine from Bridlington attended at around 3.30pm last Wednesday.

The fire was tackled using three beaters and a backpack fitted with a water pump.

A spokesman for the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was started deliberately.

A fire crew from Bridlington was also called out in the early hours of last Friday after the deliberate burning of bales in a field on the outskirts of Bempton got out of control.

The fire service were called shortly before 6am and spent an hour and a half on the scene tackling the blaze.

The fire was extinguished using four beaters, two haydrags and ceiling hooks, while the farmer used a tractor to break up the bales.
