A Bridlington man has been arrested after threatening to bomb a supermarket in the town last night.

Police received a threat to bomb Tesco on Hilderthorpe Road shortly before 10pm last night (Wednesday February 3), before arresting the 21-year-old at 11:45pm.

The unnamed man remains in police custody where he is being questioned about making a hoax bomb threat.

A force spokesman said: "Police take hoaxes extremely seriously. They divert police resources and cause disruption and alarm to the public."
