A self-employed hairdresser from Bridlington has encouraged a group of residents to bravely colour their hair to raise funds for a charity helping wounded servicemen and women.

Pictured are those who boldly volunteered to have their hair dyed in a variety of bright colours, including pinks, purples and blues, by mobile hairdresser Jessica Saltmer, 18.

Jessica has been running her own mobile hairdressing business, covering the Bridlington and Hunmanby area, for the past 12 months and was inspired to hold the fund-raising event by her mother Cathy Saltmer who runs The Rowan Tree, on Regents Terrace from where she collects for the charity.

The colourful event raised a total of £130 which will go towards helping the charity continue its work in providing high spec wheelchairs, prosthetic limbs, communication aids and other related disability equipment to injured servicemen and women.

And Jessica, who opted to dye her own hair blue, said everyone enjoyed the event, so much so that some of the volunteers have decided to keep their new hair colour.

Donations can still be made in one of the collection boxes at The Rowan Tree.
