A BRIDLINGTON Building firm has been named as one of the winners of Scarborough’s Local Business Accelerators scheme.
One of three winners, East Coast Builders on Albion Terrace employs three people and will get thousands of pounds worth of free advertising in the Scarborough Evening News over the coming months.
After a three month campaign East Coast Builders, Curtain Fabrics and Stepney Hill Farm Gourmet Meat Company, were all rewarded for developing new ideas, capitalising on new markets, creating new jobs and building pride in the community.
Judges were particularly impressed at how East Coast Builders, which has been running for almost two years, had utilised heat recovery ventilator machines to combat condensation and mould problems.
The machines produced by Kair Ventilation and distributed by East Coast Builders, have proved to be very effective against such problems and cost as little as £17 a year to run.
Lenny Hunnygen, director of East Coast Builders said: “Being one of the winners is going to allow me to expand the business a lot faster.
“I entered the scheme because I thought if people see what we are doing they will start to take notice which can only be a good thing for us.
“I’m really looking forward to 2012 it’s going to be an exciting year for us and hopefully, as we expand and take on local workers, we can help benefit the community even more.”
East Coast Builders will now be put through to the national final of the scheme, where they will get the chance to win individual mentoring sessions from Dragons Den’s Deborah Meaden.
