The coffers of local charity Yorkshire Cancer Research (YCR) have been swelled recently after two productive events.

The charity - the UK’s largest regional medical research charity which funds cancer research across Yorkshire and provided information to help local people beat cancer - raised £950 at a fashion show, and received a £600 donation from two Bridlington women.

Diane Scales and Debbie Wallace took part in a sponsored skydive in March, raising £1,200 in total - £600 for YCR and £600 for the Macmillan Wolds Unit at Bridlington Hospital.

They presented the cheque to Jan Jagger of Yorkshire Cancer Research last week.

The charity also raised £950 from their fashion show, which was held at Coco Boutique in Market Weighton.
