THE star studded line for this year’s Brid Bash has been announced. The first artists to be announced are London rapper and chart sensation Chipmunk, soul singer and TV personality Dionne Bromfield, top 10 girl band Parade, pop dance act Six D and vocalist Loick Essien, who will all be performing at the summer gig, held at the Spa on August 11.

In celebration of the announcement, Viking FM broadcast live from The Spa last Friday from 6am–7pm, and were joined by The Reason 4, most recognised from their performances on last year’s X Factor.

The band will also be performing at this year’s Brid Bash. The band were snapped up by one of the world’s biggest music publishers, Sony ATV, after their performance on the X Factor and the four ex-builders are sure to be a hit on the Spa’s stage.

We spoke to the band, former builders Marc, Scot, Glenn and Nate, about their plans for the Bash.

“We can’t wait to get to Bridlington and get on stage, we’re hoping to put on a great show for everyone,” said Glenn.

“We have a new single, Take it All, out on August 7 and a mini album called Crying Out Loud, on August 14, and those songs are the ones we will be performing at the Brid Bash.”

Marc added: “We co-wrote these songs ourselves and we are really proud of them all.

“When we finished X-Factor we had three demos and people would say we sounded like The Script or Take That, but as we’ve written songs for the album we have developed more of a soft rock sound.”

The man-band also spoke of how the X-Factor has helped them concentrate on their careers.

Marc said: “I went to the judge’s house in Marbella which was worth millions of pounds, and then came back to Southampton to my one-bedroom flat.”

Scot added: “I was working on the docks a year ago, but since X-Factor we have managed to concentrate fully on the band for the first time in 10 years.

“We’ve seen how big the Spa is, and we can’t wait to play there!” Viking FM’s Paul Foster thinks it will be the biggest Brid Bash yet: “Last year’s concert was a resounding success and we’re confident it’s going to be the most unforgettable gig in Bridlington this year. We’re thrilled to announce the first acts on the line up and hope it whets the appetite for what’s to come.”
