A BAKER is to swap his bread rolls for insoles as he takes part in the Bridlington Festival of Running.
Gary Woolven, 34, works as a baker at the Tesco supermarket on Hilderthorpe Road and is taking part in both the six-mile road race, and the four-mile beach race.
He is running to raise money for the Alzheimers Society, which is Tesco’s charity of the year.
“I do quite a bit of running so hopefully the race will go smoothly, I’ve set myself a target of 40 minutes for the six mile race and I would be delighted if I could do it in that time,” said Gary, who lives on Long Lane in Bridlington.
“A member of my partner’s family has Alzheimers and that convinced me to get involved.
“I don’t have a fund-raising target but I am just hoping to raise as much money as I can for the charity.”
If anyone would like to sponsor Gary, they can get further details by going to the customer services desk at the Tesco store.
