A man who published his debut novel aged 71 earlier this year has brought out its follow up within months.

Peter Thompson, of Cornfield Crescent, has written First Yacht Home, a terrorist thriller, which is now available at Lodge Books on South Back Lane and online at Amazon. This follows the release of Time Capsule, Peter’s first novel, which he published with the help of Lodge Books in February.

Now retired, Peter used to spend his dinner hour writing when he worked at Bridlington’s now closed Sara Lee factory for ten years - then passing his stories on to others to enjoy.

Peter, who also worked at Park Rose Pottery, said he first started writing in the late 60s - but began to take a keen interest at the end of the 1980s. And now that he has the publishing bug, more is in the pipeline.

Peter said: “I write all sorts of things, I have different ideas and styles. This book was written 10 years ago, and I already have another lined up with the same character, Tom Renwick, called The Guy Fawkes Agenda.”

Peter is the secretary of the Bridlington Writers Group, which meets every Tuesday at the Jamroz Centre on North Street, and he also attends the writing group at Bridlington Library.
