A MAN has been arrested by police in Bridlington after an armed robbery in the town.

The robbery took place at the One Stop shop, on Flamborough Road, at around 10pm on Tuesday, October 16.

One man entered the store and after picking up a drink and walking to the till, produced what appeared to be a firearm and threatened the shop assistant.

The man took an amount of cash from the till, and ordered staff to hand over cigarettes before leaving the shop with the money, cigarettes and drink.

No shots were fired and nobody was injured. Police were called at 10pm on Tuesday following the reports.

A 27-year-old man will appear at Hull Crown Court on Tuesday October 23 charged with robbery, possessing an imitation firearm and possession of a controlled substance.

He will remain in custody until that date.

A 46-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and handling stolen goods. She will appear at Brid Magistrates Court on October 31.
