HARD working members of a Lifeboat supporters group have been recognised for their fund-raising efforts.
Flamborough Lifeboat Supporters Group have received a special recognition award from the chairman and council of the RNLI for their continued success in raising funds to help save lives at sea.
Hannah Garnett, RNLI Community Fundraising Manager presented the group with their award when she made a surprise visit to their Christmas Bingo.
Hannah said: “The Flamborough Lifeboat Supporters Group have made fantastic strides in fundraising over the last three years, increasing their income year on year by around 3% which is a phenomenal effort in the economic times which we find ourselves in.
“I had a fantastic evening playing bingo; I cannot believe the turnout despite the torrential rain and raising £565.51, such a testament to the support for the RNLI in the local community.”
There were 149 RNLI branches or groups in the UK who achieved an increase over the last three years, which equates to around 12% of all branches.
In East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire only two branches managed this feat - the Flamborough Supporters Group and The Vale of Pickering Branch.
Pat White, Chairman of the Group thanked Hannah and the RNLI on behalf of the Supporters.
