POLICE have had their first ASBO granted against an individual for poaching and hare coursing in the East Riding.
John Alan Langan, 26, of Stokesley near Middlesbrough, has been given a three year Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) after being responsible for a number of incidents of poaching and hare coursing within the East Riding – including in Bridlington and Driffield.
It relates to incidents between January 2005 and January 2011 where his activities have caused harassment, alarm and distress to people living in both areas and several others in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.
Issued by Hull and Holderness Magistrates Court last Wednesday, its conditions include a ban on him entering the Humberside Police area, except for specific travel arrangements to the ferry terminal or Humberside Airport or for work.
PC Julie Turrell, rural beat officer for the East Riding said: “This ASBO should send a clear message to others who consider coming to the Humberside Police area to commit acts of poaching or hare coursing that this behaviour will not be tolerated.”
