A 67-year-old man has allegedly been assaulted at a pub in Bridlington after trying to break up a domestic dispute.

Officers are appealing for witnesses following an alleged assault at The Hilderthorpe Pub, on Hilderthorpe Road, at around 12.30am on Saturday June 11.

A 67-year-old man was having a drink when he tried to intervene in domestic dispute between a known man and woman.

The man took offence and allegedly assaulted the victim, before other people in the pub intervened.

The victim sustained a broken finger and a swollen and cut eye socket. He attended Scarborough Hospital for treatment.

Police are appealing for people who witnessed the incident to call 101 quoting crime reference number 2193734 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
