SUSAN Cunliffe-Lister of Burton Agnes Hall is among 1,900 invited guests at today’s Royal Wedding.
She she will take her seat in the south nave of Westminster abbey in her capacity as Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the East Riding, a role she has held since 2005.
Mrs Cunliffe-Lister, 66, said: “I’m hoping all the Lord Lieutenants are sitting together and we can have a chat to each other. If I find myself sat next to David Beckham I won’t know what to talk about.”
This is one of the biggest royal occasions Mrs Cunliffe-Lister has attended, the last being the Queen’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, marking the 50th anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne, at St Paul’s Cathedral in 2002.
But she said: “This is a lot more special.”
“I’m getting quite excited about it. It’s been quite a busy Easter so now that’s all over I can start to think about it,”
Mrs Cunliffe-Lister’s outfit for the big day features a black and white diagonal striped silk jacket and large white hat complete with feathers created by Carnaby hat maker Sharon Watts.
