STAFF at the O2 shop in Chaple Street are waxing lyrical about charity this week.

The shop has been supporting this year’s Sport Relief since the beginning of the month, and tomorrow sees the fundraising highlight: a male leg-waxing.

Sales Advisor Jessica Long said: “This is the first time we’ve done anything like this, and we’ve already raised over £400.

“The leg-waxing is on Friday March 23, which is the start of Sport Relief weekend, but we’ll be carrying on fundraising until the end of the month. We don’t have a particular target in mind, but any contribution is welcome.

“We’re grateful to the Salus Beauty Salon, which is doing the waxing, and to the men who have offered to have their legs waxed - although they’re getting nervous.”

Sport Relief supports a wide range of people, both in the UK and abroad, of all ages and in all sorts of difficult situations. Here in Britain the charity provides comfort and help to vulnerable older people, helps people in disadvantaged communities, and those living with poor mental or physical health. Abroad, Sport Relief cash protects and supports street children, and helps provides access to healthcare and clean water.

With so many disadvantaged people in need of help, it’s well worth a few moments’ pain for what the charity stands to gain!
