A 40-YEAR-OLD man has been jailed for six months after stealing two bottles of vodka from a Scarborough shop.
David Faulkner, of Ferndale Terrace, Bridlington, appeared at Scarborough Magistrates' Court where he admitted theft.

Faulkner was spotted picking up a bottle, worth £11.89, in Marks and Spencer in Newborough and walking out without paying on two
consecutive days.

Dawn Birkett, prosecuting, said: "He was apprehended quickly without any fuss and both bottles were recovered so there is no claim for compensation."

Mitigating, Ian Brickman said Faulkner had a chronic drink problem and had been admitted to Scarborough Hospital recently with serious health problems related to that.

He also had a four-month suspended prison sentence hanging over him following a previous offence and was on bail when he committed the theft.

Magistrates activated the suspended sentence and imposed a further two-month sentence, to be served consecutively.
