A VAN flipped on its side and a car hit a lamppost after they collided in an accident in Bridlington on Tuesday.
Firefighters rescued the man driving the Fiat Scudo van by removing the windscreen and lifting him through, before putting him on a spinal board.

The driver of the red Rover managed to get himself out of the car. Both were taken by ambulance to Scarborough Hospital.

The accident happened on the corner of St James Road and George Street in Bridlington at 4.20pm and police closed the road.

The road reopened to traffic at 6.22pm.

The van driver suffered a cut to his head and is thought to have been released from hospital the same day.
