THE first of this season's puffins have been spotted at the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs.
Staff say the birds have joined several thousand returning gannets, guillemots, kittiwakes and razorbills, and this weekend there is a special event to welcome them back.

Between 10am and 4pm, reserve visitors can learn more about these birds and
see demonstrations of telescopes and binoculars.

By June, the height of the breeding season, there will be more than 200,000 birds on the cliffs making the Bempton reserve one of the best places in the UK to see seabirds at close quarters.
