Power problems at holiday park

DISGRUNTLED holidaymakers abandoned Skipsea Sands Holiday Park over the weekend as the site was plagued with gas and electricity problems.
One woman whose party headed back to Doncaster early, said: "Never again! This has ruined our holiday.

"We were without gas or electricity pretty much all weekend and it was awful."

A regular visitor in the past, she had been staying at the park with her husband and in-laws and said they thought it was ridiculous that the site had run out of gas over a Bank Holiday weekend.

"We couldn't cook, and were stuck in a caravan with no heating. It was so cold and it must have been awful for people with kids," she added.

The family-orientated holiday park boasts an indoor swimming pool and leisure centre, but scenes of holiday fun seemed a world away as angry customers demanded refunds.

A spokesperson for Skipsea Sands said that parts of the park were without electricity due to 'circumstances beyond our control' and added that alternative arrangements were made for the affected guests.

"It is very regrettable that we subsequently ran out of gas on Sunday evening," she said.

"We rushed emergency supplies over as soon as this came to light and the park is now operating normally.

"We are sorry about the inconvenience that this has caused and we will be compensating those guests that were affected."
