DESPITE an appeal to keep it open, South Marine Drive Post Office in Bridlington closed at the weekend.
In November it was earmarked for closure following a consultation period – then last month shop owner Lisa Castleton was told it would definitely shut at Easter.
Staff had organised a petition, collecting 3,000 signatures, and MP Greg Knight gave his support, but it made no difference.
Although the post office is no longer operating, Mrs Castleton is going to keep the shop open.
