ALARMED parents want action after three men were seen hiding in bushes near a primary school and taking photographs of children.
Police are stepping up patrols around Martongate School and parents have also claimed one of the men exposed himself in front of the youngsters.

The men, thought to be in their 20s, were spotted in the car parks at Somerfield and the Friendly Fore
ster pub, using their mobile phones to take pictures.

Insp Steve Jackson, head of Bridlington police, said: "We have received a report of a man acting suspiciously near to the school and enquires are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

"Police Community Support Offices have been patrolling the area over the past week to reassure the local community.

"We would urge members of the public to report any suspicious activity to the police.

"Residents can also express any concerns via the local neighbourhood policing teams."

Parents said the the men tended to arrive at 8.15am, as children start arriving for school.

One parent said: "Nobody has done anything yet. The police are involved and the school is aware of it but there is only so much they seem able to do.

"I don't feel enough is being done to protect the children.

"It isn't so bad for the younger ones because they get taken to school and are collected but some of the older ones walk on their own and parents aren't aware of what's happening."

Another parent said: "It's a real worry and I tell my children they must be around people all the time and be in view of everyone.

"It's on my mind all day and I am glad when I pick them up and they are at home."

Two of the men are said to have shaved hair and look very similar.

Martongate School has issued a letter to parents and headteacher David Carruthers said: "There are people outside school but there again they have a right to be there.

"Some people do believe there might be cause for concern and we have contacted the police."

Anyone who has any information about the men is asked to call Humberside Police on 0845 6060222, quoting log 222 of May 13.
