THE new leader of the Liberal Democrats has backed attempts to save Bridlington's cardiac unit.
Campaign leader Mick Pilling has received a letter from Nick Clegg's office at Westminster.
It says: "The Liberal Democrats believe that local people should have a real say in the provision of local health services and the response to your petition makes it very clear that the people of Bridlington want their local hospital saved. Good luck with your ongoing campaign."
