FORMER Headlands School pupil Sheree Wardlow has taken quite a leap, from a potential career in dancing to a future with the armed forces.
Sheree, 17, from Bempton, is a gifted dancer and has had a passion for performing ever since her dad Jeff can remember.

She took lessons at the Hatton School of Performing Arts in Scarborough before enrolling at Yorkshire Coast College to study Dance and Theatre – but left after a year to join the RAF.

"All she has ever wanted to do is dance," said Jeff. "It was a total turnaround when she decided to leave it all behind.

"You could have knocked me down with a feather when she told me!"

Sheree has just completed her first stage of training and passed-out in April at RAF Halton in Aylesbury.

She will now go on to complete a further 15 weeks of training at RAF Chicksands in Shropshire and hopes to qualify as an intelligence analyst.

Sheree has the full support of dad Jeff: "As she has got older she realised that to make it as a dancer and to get to the West End is incredibly difficult," he said.

"Although she is an amazing dancer she has better career prospects with the forces and will get to travel more."

Sheree is following in the footsteps of her brother Richard who has been with the armed forces for two years and is due to complete a four month tour of duty in the Falklands at the end of May.
