PENSIONERS from Flamborough have voiced their concens for local health services by writting to the panel looking at the future of Bridlington Hospital.
Several elderly residents from the village have put their names to a letter posted to the Independent Reconfiguration Panel's headquarters in London.

They have pleaded for their voice to be heard, but have stressed concerns the views of local peop
le are being 'completely ignored'.

Letters to other health authorities have either not been acknowledged or receive a standard reply.

The letter, which was drawn up by parish councillor May Sexton, says: "We appeal to members of the panel, when considering all the information, to stop and give serious thought to the extra fear and stress to patients if they have to travel well away from familiar home surroundings to receive treatment such as that provided by the present cardiac unit at Bridlington Hospital."

It claims local people feel 'cheated' by the health trust's plans to scrap services in Bridlington, and that they have the right to expect cardiac services to remain in the town.

"It is obvious the trust seems to have forgotten the fact that it was the efforts of thousands of local people working extremely hard to provide the funding required to build and service a local hospital in Bridlington, many of those same people are still giving time and energy in support of their hospital," the letter continues.
