A BRIDLINGTON man has been ordered to pay £155 in costs after being caught driving without insurance.

Jake Andrew Brear, 20, of South Back Lane in Bridlington, pleaded guilty to using a motor vehicle without third party insurance relating to an incident on December 5 on Quay Road in the town.

Brear did not appear in court but in a letter explained to Bridlington Magistrates that he was under the impression he was insured to drive his girlfriend's car, as he had third party insurance to drive his mother's car.

Presiding magistrate Ian Male ordered Brear to pay a £100 fine, court costs of £40 and a £15 victim surcharge.
