COASTGUARDS believe British resorts like Bridlington will benefit from an influx of visitors this summer.
But it also means they are preparing for a record number of people getting into difficulty and needing their help.

They have launched their annual Sea Smart campaign which promotes beach safety so visitors know what to do in case of an emergency.

Chief coastguard Rod Johnson said: "More and more people are choosing to holiday at home and explore our coastline.

"We want to help educate families about how to stay safe while having fun on the coast and what to do and who to call in an emergency."

See Tuesday's Gazette and Herald for details of this year's Sea Smart campaign
