EVERYTHING in the garden is rosy at a care complex.
Thanks to volunteer help, donations of cash and materials the residents of Kirkgate House in Bridlington’s Old Town now have a brand new sensory garden.
It has taken just over three months and around £3,000 to create it in the old courtyard area which did have paving and a grassed area but now has access for wheelchairs, borders, boxes, tubs and a whole range of sweet smelling herbs and flowers.
Julie Wood, manager of the Hica home for people with learning disabilities, thanked everyone who had helped including one of their 24 permanent residents, Keith Smith, who started the fund-raising ball rolling with a sponsored swim.
People who use the home’s four respite beds will also benefit from the new addition which had an open day to show it off to relatives, carers and others.
