Lesley Holmes, her partner Arthur Cook and their three-week old daughter Jasmine were in their house in Auburn Walk when they said the lights flickered and then the computer blew and smoke started coming from it.
Miss Holmes said: "Arthur pulled out the plug and the computer stopped smoking. Then the microwave started smoking and there was a massive bang and the fridge went."
They spent the night in the cold, using candles to light the room, and Miss Holmes said she had to rely on her brother Paul Holmes, who lives nearby and has a gas cooker, to bring her hot water in a flask so she could feed Jasmine.
On Monday morning she said: "They keep saying an engineer is on his way.
"I don't want to spend another night here, they will have to put us in a hotel."
YEDL staff came late on Monday evening to turn their electricity back on, however their boiler is still not working so they are without central heating and hot water.
