IT has taken two and a half years and cost around £20million but Bridlington's best-loved iconic building is back – and how!
To say The Spa Bridlington – as it is now known – has the wow factor is an understatement.

It is a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose venue and has already been labelled one of the top conference, events and entertainment centres in the country and one Bridlington and the East Riding as a whole can be proud of.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council leader, Coun Stephen Parnaby OBE, said: "I want to say to the people of Bridlington 'come and see it, it is yours, use it and be proud of it'.

"No-one can come through these doors and ask the question 'what have you spent £20million on?' because it oozes quality.

"Most seaside resorts would kill for this type of investment."

The new Spa, a vital part of Bridlington's regeneration, is designed to attract more investment and boost visitor and conference trade to the town.

One look inside should convince anyone it has been worth the money and the wait.

The magnificent Royal Hall, capable of holding 3,500 people, has a brand new sprung dance floor and has been taken back to its 1930s art deco splendour.

The Spa Theatre, with seating for 650 people, is restored to its Edwardian splendour in red and gold and both are packed with the latest in performance technology to enable them to stage almost any kind of event.

There are eight light and airy function or conference break-out rooms, some with unrivalled sea views of Bridlington bay and private bars, internet access and the latest in audio visual presentation aids to cater for meetings as small as six up to well over 150.

They are ideal for banquets, weddings and other private functions.

For the first time in its history there is now full disabled access throughout the building with lifts to different levels.

A new foyer entrance with a straight-through view to the sea and beach is a stunning new feature.

"Bridlington's biggest ever show is about to get underway and the Spa is the star," said Coun Parnaby.

There will be a chance to take a look at the Spa during Bridlington Arts Festival, from May 21 to 26, its first public event ahead of the official opening rock concert by the Pigeon Detectives on May 31.

The public can take full tours of all its facilities at an open day on June 7.

Tickets are free but must be booked in advance on a first come, first served basis, through the Spa box office on 678258.
