A golf day to raise money for Eve Gascoigne raised almost £5,000 for her appeal.

One of the highlights of the day at Bridlington Golf Club was during the prize presentation, when Eve made a video-call to the clubhouse from Florida, where she is undergoing proton beam therapy for her rare form of cancer.

Almost 150 players competed at the Belvedere course on Good Friday, and more than 40 sponsors helped to make the day a success.

Director of golf Anthony Howarth said it was ‘an incredible day’.

“All the competitors and supporters entered into the spirit of the day and the generosity from everyone was overwhelming.

“The family of Eve can’t thank everyone enough for the support they received and they hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as they did.

“The total amount raised on the day was just short of a staggering £5,000 and the icing on the cake was a FaceTime conversation with Eve, live from America.

“It was a very moving and emotional moment when Eve said ‘thank you’ to everyone and brought a tear to all in attendance.

“The day was all about Eve and we all hope that her treatment goes well and we look forward to her returning back to the UK.”

The winners of the competition were Graeme Carmichael and Rob Bingham with an exceptional score of 49 points.

The booby prize was won by Paul Richardson and Nick Marlow.
