THE couples are all full of enthusiasm and excitement about their new ventures.
But what is the reality of running a guest house?

Georgie Mitchell, from the Newcliffe Hotel in Belgrave Road, has been in the trade for 27 years, making her one of the longest-serving owners in Bridlington.

She said: “It’s absolutely fantastic, I love it and have never regretted it. We have met some fantastic people who came as guests and became really good friends.

“But you have to be a people person and it is hard work, although the rewards are wonderful.

“Occasionally, you get people you wouldn’t normally invite into your own home but you think to yourself, it’s only for a few days.

“About 80% of our guests book for the next year before they leave, so once you build up your regulars you are OK - they come to see you as much as anything, regardless of the weather.”
