A MARATHON fishing challenge is being attempted by local fishermen to raise money for charity.

Fishermen from Bridlington are aiming to fish non-stop for 24 hours from either the north or south pier.

They hope to raise money for Children in Need, with help from the Greggs store at Bessingby Retail Park.

Dave Harrison, his son Dexter, Jamie Payne, Steven Binnington and Mick Ormston will be taking on the 24 hour fishing challenge from 6am on November 16 until 6am the next morning.

Tracy Ormston, Greggs store manager, said: “We are hoping to raise as much money as possible for Children in Need and encourage anyone to help out by sponsoring those fishing.

“We are also hoping that local businesses, possibly angling businesses, may be able to help out by donating equipment or things like bait.”

If anyone would like to help, pop in to the Greggs store, at the Bessingby Retail Park, or call Tracy at the store on 609903.
