A 12-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested at Bridlington School after allegedly threatening a fellow pupil with a knife.
The incident took place at the school on Tuesday lunchtime, where it is believed a pupil threatened to harm his ex-girlfriend – possibly with a Swiss Army knife.
It is thought the pupil then threatened to turn the knife on himself.
Humberside Police were called to the school, on Bessingby Road, at 12.46pm.
They confirmed that a 12-year-old boy was arrested following an allegation of threats made towards another pupil. He currently remains in police custody.
Sarah Pashley, headteacher at Bridlington School, said: “A serious incident has taken place at the school.
“The school has very rigorous measures in place to safeguard our students and the incident was dealt with swiftly and efficiently by members of staff and the police and as a result no-one was harmed.
“I would like to reassure all parents and carers that we take our students’ safety very seriously and will continue to do so.”
