A NEW free poetry festival is coming to Bridlington this summer. Fish Pie and P.E.A.S, a mixed media arts group based in the town, are organising the fringe poety festival, set to take place between June 15 and 17 this year. The Festival of Little Light has already attracted 25 poets, and signed up 12 businesses, while well-known poet Ian McMillan has been named patron.
Organisers hope that the town could lead the way in today’s cash-strapped environment, by showing how the arts can lead a business recovery – rather than the other way round. The festival is free, with a headline event planned for the Spa Gallery on June 17.
