THE festive season is upon us and one of the first signs is that Bridlington’s Spotlight Theatre are producing their 12th Annual pantomime Dick Whittington.

It tells the story of Dick Whittington, played by Jessica Godfrey, who goes to London to seek his fortune.

Along the way, he meets up with Tommy the cat, played by Monica Clegg, who becomes his best friend and of course he falls in love with Alice Fitzwarren, played on alternate weeks by Oprah Kitchen and Melanie Kendall. The Baddy in all this is King Rat, played by Simon Kendall, who has nasty plans for Dick and attempts to rule Europe with his plague of Ratlings, played by several junior members of our SPOTS group giving them an early opportunity to perform on stage for the very first time.

No Pantomime would be the same without the Panto Dame and this year Mike Hammond will be playing Sarah the Cook, so laughter and the unexpected will be around in every scene, some planned, some not.

The Dame is ably assisted by Mickey the Mate, played by Ryan Wilson, who is the funny dim wit, whom you cannot help but love.

Overseeing everyone is Alderman Fitzwarren, played by Eric Hart.

Produced and Directed by Mike Sheldon, with Choreography by Pat Hughes.

Dick Whittington will be on at the Spotlight Theatre, on West Street every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout December, on December 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 13, 28 and 30, as well as January 4, 5, and 6. Evening performances start at 7.30pm and matinees are held at 2.30pm.

Tickets are available from Bridlington Blinds and Curtains, at top of Bridge Street, priced at £7.50 for adults and £5 for children.
